Dr. Gurjot Marwah MD is a psychiatrist in private practice in Tempe. Arizona. She has been practicing psychiatry in the same location since 2001. She was born and raised in northern India and received her medical degree from one of the oldest medical schools named Government Medical College, Amritsar,India which was established in 1864.
She moved to the United States in 1993. After living in New York, San Francisco and Chicago, she along with her husband, call Arizona their home since 1996. She did her psychiatry residency training at Creighton University School of Medicine Valleywise Health Center (Phoenix) Psychiatry residency program. A part of her training was at Arizona State University Counceling and Health Center, and during that she realized that working with young adults and professionals like herself, was her forte.
In 2001, she opened her psychiatry private practice in Tempe, Arizona very close to ASU's main campus.
Dr. Marwah is the past President of Arizona Psychiatric Society, the state society of Arizona psychiatrists. She continues to actively participate in the legislative decisions of the society, having a voice advocating for mental health laws affecting the population of Arizona. She is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Marwah has been elected to serve as one of two Arizona Representatives to the American Psychiatric Association Assembly and participates in the APA governing and practice guideline decisions along with advocating for mental health.
She is passionate about raising mental health awareness throughout Arizona, specifically amongst college students at Arizona State University where she has closely collaborated with the Counseling Center since 1997. She is also a mother to two college going young adults.
Her goal as a psychiatrist is to build a collaborative relationship with her patients, and provide a safe, secure environment for personal growth.
